Greek Mythology

What is Greek mythology?

Greek mythology, in brief, is an entertaining set of tales (of Gods, villains and valiant figures) which the people of Ancient Greece believed in. The tales were ways in which the Greeks would make sense of a wide range of things (for example: traditions). Some of the Gods which feature in these tales are as follows: Zeus, Hera, Apollo, Hermes, Athena and Aphrodite. Although, societies around the world have advanced a lot since the time when people would believe in these tales, they are still very relevant to the present age. This is because the tales present immortal figures (or Gods) as figures who are not extremely different from mortal figures (or human beings): they are fearless and sharp plus they make mistakes and win wars.

How George H.W. Bush Made An Impact

George H. W. Bush recently passed away at the age of ninety-four. Bush had served in World War II and as the US Ambassador to the United Nations before succeeding Ronald Reagan as the President of the United States of America.

In my outlook, although, George was President of the country for only four years (1989-1993), he had heavily impacted the pages of history because of his involvement in the Gulf War. The Gulf War, which had begun in the year 1990, was an operation spearheaded by the United States to halt Iraq from taking over Kuwait; Iraq, at the time, was led by Saddam Hussein.

The United States was assisted in this operation by more than thirty countries, inclusive of the United Kingdom and France. But sadly, in spite of the fact that the operation proved to be a success, George was not elected back in 1994; as a result of having garnered a poor performance in handling affairs at home, George was succeeded by Bill Clinton as the President of the United States.

American Music Awards (2018) Forecasts

The songs and (the stars) that should win this year

The winners of the American Music Awards (AMAs) this year are set to be revealed later on today. The AMAs is more than forty years old with previous winners including Shania Twain, Rihanna and Katy Perry.

Drake is one of the music artists who has earned the most number of nominations this year. I think the Canadian star securing so many nominations demonstrates the kind of music plus music artists which will probably win at the AMAs this year and that means songs which can’t really be deemed too melodious in spite of the fact that they are famous plus music artists who, more often than not, exhibit songs of that type as part of their latest album release or body of work.

In my outlook, the wins at the AMAs should reflect the total opposite – music artists who regularly sing songs which have a good dose of melody, for example as artists like Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift do, plus songs of that type should win instead because those deserve to be applauded more. My picks:

Artist of the year: Ed Sheeran
New Artist of the year presented by Capital One: Dua Lipa
Collaboration of the year: Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line – Meant To Be
Tour of the year: Taylor Swift
Video of the year: Camila Cabello (Feat. Young Thug) – Havana
Favorite Social Artist: BTS

Favorite Male Artist – Pop/Rock: Ed Sheeran
Favorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock: Taylor Swift
Favorite Duo/Group – Pop/Rock: Maroon 5
Favorite Album – Pop/Rock: Ed Sheeran – Divide

Favorite Male Arist – Soul/R&B: Bruno Mars
Favorite Female Artist – Soul/R&B: Rihanna
Favorite Album – Soul/R&B: Khalid – American Teen
Favorite Song – Soul/R&B: Ella Mai – Boo’d Up

Favorite Artist – Alternative Rock: Imagine Dragons

Ancient Egypt

Pyramides de Ghyzéh, Vue Générale

What is Ancient Egypt?

Ancient Egypt is the name given to an African civilization which used to exist a very long time ago in what is present-day Egypt. The civilization had existed for several centuries. Ancient Egypt had produced many pharaohs (meaning: rulers) such as Djoser, Khafre and Ramses I. Hallmarks of this era include the pyramids, some stunning temples and illustrious tombs of pharaohs. In my outlook, Ancient Egypt was a very remarkable civilization because it had demonstrated that an African civilization which used to exist many, many years ago could create marvelous architectures (for example: the pyramids) which can still be considered as some of the greatest in the world; this is in spite of the fact that, since then, building styles have evolved and advanced a lot.
